The Africa Programme of the University for Peace (UPEACE) has a research grant from The Canadian International Development Research Centre (IDRC) to support doctoral research for African students pursuing their PhD studies at Universities in Sub Saharan Africa and who are in the final stage of their PhD studies. The Africa Programme of the University for Peace (UPAP) has secured funding from the Canadian International Development Research Center (IDRC) to build research capacity in Africa in Governance and Security Studies. Tsion Tadesse Abebe is currently working as a Programme Assistant for the Africa Programme of the United Nations affiliated University for Peace (UPEACE). Her responsibilities in the Africa Programme include serving as a focal point for Gender and Youth activities at Africa Level, and carrying out research on a variety of topics including Gender and Peace. Besides, she is also invovled in teaching in the area of Gender, Peace and Security
