My name is Md. Ahsan Habib, age 42. I am from Bangladesh. I hold a Master of Social Science in Economics and a Post-graduate Diploma in Computer Science & Engineering.
I joined Bangladesh Police Service on 3rd February, 1994 as Sub-Inspector of Police and since then I have worked in different units of the Bangladesh Police for 17 years including two years at international level. Presently I have been working as Inspector of Police at City Special Branch, Bangladesh Police, Dhaka. Here my duties and responsibilities are to collect, collate, analyze, evaluate and disseminate information to the authorities concerned for necessary action in advance to ensure safety and security. I also verify the documents and vet some applicants who are selected for government service. I was deployed on September 17, 2011 to perform my duties as Shift-in-Charge, Immigration ‘C’-shift, Ashkona Hajj Camp, Dhaka. Up to November 02, 2011 I performed my duties well and ensured proper immigration process of Hajj Pilgrims and checked illegal trafficking of men, women and children. From December 7, 2010 to November 10, 2011 I worked as Inspector of Police (Investigation) where I ensured proper investigation and management of case files/dockets.
From October 19, 2009 to October 21, 2010 I worked as UNPOL with the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL). There I mentored, monitored and advised many police officers of Liberia National Police to build their capacity in daily operations. I was closely mentoring the Criminal Services Department of Liberia National Police. I also participated in the United Nations Mission in Liberia as CIVPOL from May 2004 to May 2005. I worked in Monrovia and I was later deployed to other areas. I was assigned as military liaison and security officer. I enhanced smooth liaison and coordination between the military and other UN agencies in my areas of operation. I trained new probationary police officers in their practical field work, closely supervised, monitored their daily performances and evaluated them on weekly basis.
Before joining the United Nations Mission, I worked at the Immigration Section of Zia International Airport, Dhaka in Bangladesh as Immigration officer. I checked the validity of travel documents of international visitors and safeguarded against illegal trafficking of women and children. I worked at the Protection Section under Special Branch as Desk Officer where I was responsible for security programmes for the president, ministers, foreign diplomats and ensured efficient deployment of officers and forces. I worked at several police stations in Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Dhaka, Chittagong Metropolitan Police, Chittagong, Rangpur and Bandarban Hill Tracts, Bangladesh as Investigating Officer. I investigated many cases including murder, robbery, burglary, rape, theft, rioting and detected suspects and recovered various stolen items. I organized proactive patrols and facilitated the safety and security of the people.
I served at the Detective Branch, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Dhaka as Detective Officer where I performed routine police work including collection and collation of information from different sources and investigated many cases and arrested suspects. I also organized patrols as preventive measure to strengthen safety and security of the people. I also served as District Intelligence Officer at City Special Branch, Chittagong Metropolitan Police in Chittagong and at a later stage as Court Sub-Inspector at Lama Court in Bandarban where I performed duties as Prosecutor ensuring fair trial.
In terms of technological knowledge, I know how to operate Fax and Photocopier, short and long distance VHF radios. I have sound knowledge of computer applications and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint etc. I posses a valid national driving license and I am able to operate heavy vehicles in rough terrains.
I have very good interpersonal skills with impeccable abilities to work in a team and I am confident of working in politically fragile setting with diverse knowledge and techniques.
