OWS Must be Wolves, Not Coyotes

Coyotes are solitary critters and can’t stand against a foe that is bigger than they are. Wolves are pack animals that can and do defeat even grizzly bears. Wall Street is at least a grizzly. Paul Hawken’s Blessed Unrest documents that vast numbers of committed activists are working on many many progressive causes all around the world. Hawken thinks there are more activists working on more causes than at any previous time in history. This is very good news. And Occupy Wall Street is better…See More

Profile Information

Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself or the work of your organization (no more than 3 paragraphs)
I am a systems scientist with a special interest in organizations and mass movements. Past jobs have included custom manufacturing, software development, university teaching and research, community development, and carpenter. I have been a full-time writer (novelist and some essays) the last several years. My first novel, Denmark Rising, explores the dynamics of 1940's Denmark using strategic nonviolence to resist the Nazis. My next novel explores what might have happened if the European countries around Germany had used strategic nonviolence against Hitler. This novel focuses mainly on the dynamics within Germany itself and particularly on the German army officers corps, which was rife with plots against Hitler throughout the course of WWII.
Please list the countries and/or regions in which you (or your organization) have direct and significant expertise
USA, including ten years in a very rural part of Alaska
India (six months, mainly Dehli and Bombay)
Mexico (six weeks in a rather remote village where no outsider had ever lived before)
What is your current country of residence (or location of your organization)?
USA
What is your current job (and organization) and/or where and what field are you studying?
Novelist, using system sciences to explore themes of social justice and nonviolence
How many years professional experience do you have ?
15+
What is your personal or organizational website?
http://www.barryclemson.net
Which are your primary sectoral areas of expertise (or the primary sectoral areas of your organization) ?
Education, Organizational Development, Psychosocial
Which are your primary skills areas(or the primary skill areas of your organization)?
Evaluation, Program Implemenation, Research, Qualitative Skills, Training
What are some of your current areas of research (if any)?
Novels and essays which explore the use of strategic nonviolence in a variety of settings. My intent is to educate the imagination regarding the power of nonviolence in large scale conflicts.
If appropriate feel free to list several of your (or your organization's) publications
Denmark Rising (Norfolk, VA: Cybernetica Press, 2009), available from www.barryclemson.net in paperback or as an eBook.

Thank-you for your comments on my blog entry on story-weaving. Its great to meet fellow enthusiasts for the power of stories and non-violent communication as strength. I could not access your web page. More than likely it is my computer/ computer skills, but i tell you just in case there is some temporary blip.
