Profile

What motivated you to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
Just spent five months living in the West Bank, and traveling around Israel completing a video project aimed at preserving the family narratives of the 1948 War.

I have little technical training, but I intend to embark upon a career as a Documentary film-maker, with a focus in conflict and post-conflict dynamics.

I want to make nuanced films that both raise awareness of various international conflicts and promote inter-cultural dialogue while avoiding the common dogmatic or reductionist analyses that so often suggest simple solutions. I believe that a proper analysis of conflict fault-lines and of the various stake-holders are worthy enough topics for numerous films, without focusing heavily on "bringing it all home" with ready-made resolution recipes. I hope to find other like-minded individuals who posses the technical skills and experience in film-making (that I am currently working to acquire) to assist with the development of various projects, from the grant-writing and fund-raising phase, on through to post-production and marketing.
Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself (no more than 3 paragraphs)

Hello Eric, Thank you for your message. I'm sorry for getting back to you so late. I'm traveling a lot for work. Just arrived in Vietnam. I appreicate your questions. I'll write you a longer e-mail later this week. There are many children organizations based in the US despite the fact that the US in not a signatory. Because the US government holds a firm stance, doesn't mean that we are bound by it. In fact, many are working to encouraging the US to sign. I'll be back later this week. Sending very best wishes, Martine
