Profile

What motivated you to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
Having witnessed poverty and injustice in many parts of the world and having lived in the midst of a violent conflict, I made the decision to work in the realm of civic empowerment and nonviolent action. My professional orientation at the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict (ICNC) is devoted to education about the history, strategies and methods of civic engagement and nonviolent action to achieve social change, rights, justice, equality, and accountability of institutions and governments – which constitute some of the core elements for just and lasting peace.
Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself (no more than 3 paragraphs)

Dear Shaazka,
Thank you very much indeed for your prompt and positive response. As you said I have visited www.nonviolent-conflict.org for educational materials on people power, civic empowerment, non-violent action. I am very much interested in the empowerment of people, non-violent actions and people power. I also presented a paper in the first Asian Peacebuilders' Forum in 2006 about the Empowerment of People and Active Non-violence. Still I would like to continue action research in this area with some supports from donors/funding agencies or possibly collaborating with your group if there is opportunity.
Let's keep in touch and I look forward to hearing from you.

Warm regards,
Bobichand
