Profile

What motivated you to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
I have recognized that human sociey has advanced technologically into the 21st century but has left its humanity in the dark ages. Military technology has become so powerful and lethal that it is no longer effective as a tool of foreign policy. Yet the military is far too often used exclusively of other foreign policy tools. Society must find a new way to resolve foreign policy differences.
Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself (no more than 3 paragraphs)
Emerging from a conservative background in Oklahoma, I entered Officer Candidate School after graduation from the University of Oklahoma. My career as a general/management specialist in the Navy evolved into military intelligence as I entered the civil service. Along the way, I received an MA in Russian Area Studies from Georgetown, University. After having two children in the 1980's, and after observing the EXXON VALDEZ accident in 1989, I recognized that environmental risks posed greater threats to national security than any foreign power. I left my naval reserve career in the early 1990's after 20 years service and because I opposed the first Gulf War.
