The Peacebuilding Initiative is a project of HPCR International, in partnership with the United Nations Peacebuilding Support Office and in cooperation with the Program on Humanitarian Policy and Conflict Research (HPCR) at Harvard University. The Initiative aims to enhance the work of practitioners and policy makers engaged in peacebuilding activities through the development of interactive information platforms, or portals, on both country-specific topics and broader thematic areas. These platforms enable professionals to exploit knowledge and experience, manage a growing flow of information on the various dynamics and actors at play, and ensure informed policy responses. In 2007, the Initiative developed a portal on Sierra Leone (www.peacebuildingintiative.org/sierraleone). In 2008, the Initiative is developing a thematic portal on peacebuilding, covering five themes: Security and Public Order, Democracy and Good Governance, Justice and Rule of Law, Psycho-social Recovery, and Economic Recovery. In each section, the Initiative will present an overview of different definitions, components, debates, and case studies, as well as providing additional resources for further study. The portal aims to facilitate the work of practitioners by synthesizing key questions and debates in terms of their practical and implementation challenges.

Hello,

Every few weeks I look through the new members for interesting people. Welcome to the site. I'd like to introduce myself and see if you'd like to begin communication. I am very interested in ADR, mediation, negotiation, human rights and politics from a legal and consultancy standpoint. It seems we have some common interests and may be able to help/learn from each other.

Thanks for your time,
Chris LeGore
