“LOVING TEACHERS, LIVING SCHOOLS: SHARING OUR PATHS TO PEACE” PEACE EDUCATION CONFERENCE, MCMASTER UNIVERSITY

The Canadian Centres for Teaching Peace (CCTP) and the McMaster Centre for Peace Studies will hold the 8th Annual Peace Education Conference, “Loving Teachers, Living Schools: Sharing Our Paths to Peace” at McMaster University from November 13-15th.

This year’s conference will focus on bringing peace into schools, including the role of gender and emotional, social and spiritual intelligence. Dr. Ian Harris will give the keynote address, “Overcoming Violence through Education—Exploring Masculinity, Violence and Peace.” Conference delegates include Canadians and international representatives from Pakistan, Armenia, and Nigeria.

Nov 15, 10:15-11:15 AM: Jia Luo, Professor of Tibetan Language and Culture at Northwest University for Minorities, Lanzhou, P.R. of China, will present “Peace Education: A Tibetan Perspective.”

Nov. 15, 2:20-3:20 PM: “Peace and Conflict Resolution Education in Armenia.”

Nov. 16, 11:25AM-12:25PM: “Building Peace Education Capacity in Canada and Sierra Leone, a School Twinning Project” and “Culture of Peace, a Holistic Approach in Brazil.”
