Did a grandmother spark the current India-Pakistan flare-up? Clashes along the Line of Control are said to be the tail end of a series of events that began when a 70-year-old crossed into Pakistan-controlled Kashmir to be with her grandchildren. Is this a reflection of how fragile peace is between the two countries? And is lasting peace even possible without resolving the Kashmir dispute?

I second the points raised by Javed Shabbir on the Kashmir issue which has become a litmus test for the international forums, more importantly United Nations for the last 67 years. The international community must play their role to bring all the three parties to the negotiation table in the light of United Nations Security Council Resolution 47, adopted in 1948 as well as follow up resolutions adopted in January 1949. The only solution to Kashmir lies in engagement at all levels among the three parties mentioned earlier with the ultimate objective to implement UN resolutions as per its real and true essence to find an amicable solution to the dispute which will open a new chapter of peaceful co-existence and harmony in South Asia.

In my view, Kashmir is not at all caught in thr middle......
Rather it is the Unfinished Agenda of Partition between both countries agreed and Vital right of "Self Determination" to people of Kashmir has been denied......... We must must see the root causes if we are sincere to resolve the matter otherwise all the "Meetings, talks, Leadres Conferences or sumits"  United Nations Security Council Resolution 47, adopted in 1948, clearly called for a plebiscite to decide the fate of Kashmiris. India is denying it and International Community has long forgotten its resposnibilty.........

Yesterday, a Pakistani armed soldier who is sitting on the line of control and faced the heat of Indian attack, told me that it was just an agression from Indian Middle Level Military Leadership.....It was sudden......It was unprovoked........It killed 03 pakistani Soldiers now...........

Now we have to see the actions and responses of both the countries (India and pakistan)..........Pakistan asked for an International level Investigation in the current disturbance and killings on Line of Control but India straightforward refused it....................Is India above UN and all other International Institutions?????? is there any International law or Norms to be followed.....

Putting these facts on the table, I still believe that sincere very sincere talks, discussions, adherence to international norms, setting aside the EGO and looking at the root causes could only solve the matter....Between both countries Peace is the Only Way but on equal footings and Justice....

If we might take Moseed's comment that Pakistan is eager to settle the Kashmir issue as a starting point, is it possible to bring the leaders of both countries together, perhaps using social media platforms for the citizens to provide input to their leaders of both countries?

Might USIP take the lead to create an on-line, interactive simulation exercise to generate input from people around the world, willing to work with the people of both India and Pakistan to work out a solution that both sides can agree upon.
