In December 2009, the National Assembly of Quebec was the first democratic
territory in North American to vote for a bill to adopt October 2nd the day of Non-violence.
Run This Way
From September 19th to October 15th 2012, more than 10,000 students across
the province will run for Peace and Non-violence. The Run This Way project
is a violence prevention program for schools. The program was initiated in
2011 by the Humanist Network. On the first edition, 12,000 students across
Quebec ran and participated in awarness workshops. Thanks to a collaboration
with World Without Wars and Without Violence, an international organization
recognized by the UN, the program has been implemented in other countries.
In 2011, 5,000 students from schools in France, Argentina, Ireland, Ecuador,
the Mexico and the United States also participated.
