Petition: Investigate Betrayal of the Nobel Peace Prize

The Nobel peace prize awards are now under investigation by Swedish authorities, for not respecting the purpose, and the legimate rights of the recipients prescribed by Alfred Nobel when he established his prize for "the champions of peace." American peace activists have started an appeal to the Stockholm County Board in support of Alfred Nobel and his peace vision, see: http://warisacrime.org/nobel - and invited individuals and organizations, also abroad, to sign it.

The investigation was opened as a result of revealing truths in my book on the Nobel peace prize (http://www.nobelwill.org); not least through the secrets contained in some private diaries from a former chair it was possible to lay bare how the committee is not in the least interested in what Nobel wanted, they have made it the Norwegian parliament´s prize for peace. Based on the book Swedish authorities last month decided to open an investigation into whether the Norwegian awarders are taking Nobel into consideration at all. Nobel, in fact, clearly specified HOW in his view the world could be freed from the deadly embrace of militarism. There is no basis for doubt about what Nobel actually intended. When Nobel wrote his will he entrusted the prize to the then very peaceloving Norwegian parliamentarians, but today the purpose of Nobel´s will runs on right-on collision course with prevailing attitudes in Norwegian politics.

In his will Nobel stated clearly and unambiguously that he wished his prize to support "the champions of peace," whom he explained more closely as those who sought to lay the ground for abolition of (national) armaments through peace congresses and global co-operation "creating a brotherhood of nations."

It was a delightful surprise to see the US initiative to weigh in with an appeal to the Swedish Foundations Inspection (the Stockholm County Board) and I hope that as many as possible, individuals and organizations will endorse the appeal - at http://warisacrime.org/nobel

With today´s arms technologies the military simply cannot deliver security, it only ensures total insecurity for us all). If the Norwegian awarders would be loyal to Nobel they would do something for peace and non-violence .... and with all the major problems of this globe every year, everywhere: democracy, development, human rights, poverty, freedom of speech, housing, education, health care, climate, environment, depletion of resources .... you name it.
