The editors of the 4th Essential Field Guide to Afghanistan and the Region have just published their new information portal www.efgafghan.com that will not only help update future editions of the Afghan handbook - to be published later this year - but also to serve as an critical internet magazine. Portions of the 4th edition of the EFGA are already online, but we're also seeking insightful and well-written articles to put on the site. We further wish to help promote events such as photo exhibitions, conferences, book reviews, films, and so on that will help readers better understand Afghanistan and the region.
Once this site is properly up and running, Crosslines Essential Media (UK) Ltd will add the new proposed information portal to The Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes Region, which will include the Sudans, Somalia, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Djibouti etc.
The objective, too, is to encourage greater collaboration among all involved together with better reporting of these regions by local, regional and international journalists. For this reason, together with a group of experienced editors, journalists, photographers and film-makers, we are in the process of setting up a new revived version of the Media Action International Journalism Network, whose goal it is to provide quality reporting of global themes (such as Climate change, humanitarian response, conflict resolution, development and other related issues) in partnership with other media, humanitarian and development organizations.
We will also be supporting the PCDN on the new EFGA site. Essential Field Guide to Afghanistan & Region
