While the mainstream media help us all recover and move into the post-Michael Jackson phase of human history, let us remind ourselves that there
were a few things dwarfed by the drama of his death.
Among them were a couple of summits on issues of fundamental importance to the future of humankind.
A select few leaders of big countries mistakenly believe that they speak on behalf of the whole world. Worse, these summits proved they are not up to it when dealing the global crisis. At least not beyond the domain of rhetorics, and rather often not even there (listen to Gordon Brown in one of the videos below).
We are of course thinking of the woefully inadequate responses to the global military and economic crises that came out of President Obama's and President Medvedev's meeting in Moscow and the G8 Rome gathering.
Furthermore, the leading media decided that the much more significant and inclusive G-192 meeting in the UN in June wasn't something you needed to learn about, presumably because some Western countries did their best to undermine it.
