Peace and Collaborative Development Network

Building Bridges, Networks and Expertise Across Sectors

On 1 and 2 December 2009, CSSP and Partners Kosova are organising a conference in Pristina hosted by the Ministry of Justice entitled “Mediation in Kosovo: Maximizing Potential”.

The purpose of the conference is to bring together experts from the different fields of mediation to draft a comprehensive strategy for the development of mediation to be implemented by the Ministry of Justice. Prof. Christian Schwarz-Schilling and the Minister of Justice, Nekibe Kelmendi, will give words of welcome. Noa Zanolli, an internationally experience mediator who has worked with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Swiss Red Cross and is the former Director of Education at the Iowa Peace Institute, will be the keynote speaker.

Working groups will focus on topics such as challenges to the legal framework of mediation, the possibilities for mediation in property disputes, developing certification and training regulations for mediators, and exploring inter-community mediation.

The conference is open to the public. For more information on the conference, please visit www.cssproject.org or contact mediation@cssproject.org.
