Building Bridges, Networks and Expertise Across Sectors
There has to be a conjunction somewhere in the journey of the peacebuilder that made him choose to be in control over his life, rather than being a victim seeking revenge. There had to be a regression prior the progression phase. Being aware of the traumatic experiences is one of the pillars that sustain the peacebuilder and makes him aware of his motives, interests, fears, and power sources.
Further more, going through continuous insightful process through the mind, creates the needed space to develop a constructive dialogue with my our values, identities, fears, and inspirations. This dialogue keeps shaping our conscious, and the way we interpret 'reality'. I always remind myself that there is a different reality behind what I see and experience as real. My interpretations will always be incomplete, because I see things from where I sit, and these things will be targets for my projections.
I believe a killer is a victim of his past, fear, myths, and maybe a narcissist leader. This diagram sustains me as a peacebuilder at the midst of hate and violence. It helps me to look at the oppressed and the oppressor as a victimized 'partners' in a spiral of violence that prevents them from realizing their humanity. This understanding requires a broader one related to the nature of conflict as being inevitable part of human life, and that it is not necessarily negative or evil. It is a potential creative force that can generate new options.
