I would also like to thank Shakeel for bringing the film "Copyright Criminals" to our attention. I can honestly say that the movie itself exceeded my expectations as an independent film. What really brings my joy, was the conversations to follow. A movie about copyrights, became a focus of social justice, power, and privilege. We, unknowing, have watched a cultural circle take place. The so call powers to be, who hated rap music, and the people rap music represented, found themselves in a cultural battle that they could not win, so they fought and brought legal rights to music, to control what we hear.
We could go on for weeks, months, even years discussing this. I'm going to attend the viewing in SF this Tuesday at 6:00 at the San Francisco Main Library.
