The Himalayan River Basin in Bangladesh, China, India and Nepal are home to about 1.3 billion people - i.e. almost 20% of the world's population and almost 50% of the total population in all of these countries. In the next 20 years,
annual per capita water availability in the basin will decline by 13-35% in these countries causing severe conditions of water scarcity.
