Profile Information

What motivated you to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
Somalia!! I worked in Somalia before the war doing development and after the war doing humanitarian assistance. I became involved in the national reconciliation process, which led to my interest in peace and conflict. My theoretical interest in the field is due to its multi-disciplinary nature and the necessity and challenge of integrating all of the social sciences to understand peace and conflict.

I began my international career as a Latin Americanist. I lived in Paraguay for years starting as a Peace Corps volunteer. I did my Master thesis on training women in agriculture in Ecuador and planned to do my PhD on training women in agriculture in Brazil. Instead was offered a position training women in agriculture in Somalia. I spent the next six years living in the Horn of Africa and working for UN, NGOs, and USAID. I then moved to DC to pursue a PhD at the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution. For the past ten years I have worked as a consultant all over the world, in a wide variety of domains, and for numerous and international and national organizations. I have taught as an Adjunct Faculty at universities in the DC area. I have developed and conducted numerous training programs. I am currently working on turning my dissertation into a book. The tentative title is "Nation-building in the Lands of the Somalis".

Dear friend
Violance, war, conflicts, sufferings my desire to see world in peace and non violance has motivated me to join this network."Vasudev kutukbkam" entire world as a family, this was a teaching of our culture and traditional.we created countries, boundries, religions, cast, race for a genuine reason or a false reasons for any reason.but this the time to realise that we are one and we naturaly interconected with each other ,which we can just realise by watching inhale and exhale of breaths the source is same ,without any descrimanation, religion, bonundries, equaly for all living life of universe .When we understand this simple thing then we must understand how our and other's life is equaly important, valuble ,respectable .we should follow the nature's rule ,non violance .peace ,god has given us a human life not for destruction but for lookafter the wellbeing of all living life.
i shall be happy if you could include me in your circle of friends

Selam Mary,

Thank you for inviting me to be your friend. I would like to learn more about your experience in the Horn. Although this is a good forum to network with individuals, but I am not really sure how effective would it be to have a lively discussion about your experience in the Horn and the war in Somalia.

Are you interested in sharing what you have experienced in the Horn with other? Please let me know.

EASY . DIFFICULT

Easy is to get a place is someone's address book.
Difficult is to get a place in someone's heart.

Easy is to judge the mistakes of others
Difficult is to recognize our own mistakes

Easy is to talk without thinking
Difficult is to refrain the tongue

Easy is to hurt someone who loves us.
Difficult is to heal the wound...

Easy is to forgive others
Difficult is to ask for forgiveness

Easy is to set rules.
Difficult is to follow them...

Easy is to dream every night.
Difficult is to fight for a dream...

Easy is to show victory.
Difficult is to assume defeat with dignity...

Easy is to admire a full moon.
Difficult to see the other side...

Easy is to stumble with a stone.
Difficult is to get up...

Easy is to enjoy life every day.
Difficult to give its real value...

Easy is to promise something to someone.
Difficult is to fulfill that promise...

Easy is to say we love.
Difficult is to show it every day...

Easy is to criticize others.
Difficult is to improve oneself...

Easy is to make mistakes.
Difficult is to learn from them...

Easy is to weep for a lost love.
Difficult is to take care of it so not to lose it.

Easy is to think about improving.
Difficult is to stop thinking it and put it into action...

Easy is to think bad of others
Difficult is to give them the benefit of the doubt...

Easy is to receive
Difficult is to give

Easy to read this
Difficult to follow

Easy is to keep the friendship with words
Difficult is to keep it with meanings.
