Day of history in Egypt and concerns

As the Friday deadline expires for president Mubarak to quit , the protestors are likely to move to the President house within few hours. I am concerned about their security. Whether a violence will erupt or there will be a peaceful change ? One mind-buggling question is that whether UN has any role in this type of situations? Why the UN is silent ? Another question is that there are many civil society orgs who are sitting in UN  , none thought it to be their responsibilty to visit Egypt and do…See More

I am a development activist from India , having multi-disciplenary academic background of MA( sociology), MBA(HRM) , PG diploma in computer applications, MA(public administration) , LL.B., etc. I work through NGOs/ Charities to reach out to the poor and excluded communities to empower them and I am also the President of a NGO in India . I am looking for friends and friendly organisations who can share ideas and skills with me to prevent societal violence , empower women and children and tribes in India and help develop measures to check global warming and check destruction of tropical forests.

Europe financial crisis , Uk elections and US bank problems

Posted on May 13, 2010 at 2:58am 0 Comments

Friends,

The current financial crisis is a reminder of past disasters. There is no point in falsely raising the stock-exchange indexes. It will further hide the situation and bring more economic disasters.

The world bank must work out details of financial restructuring.

US must make the financial institutions more transparent and govt. should make the correction in the share-market. Same should be done by UK and EU countries.

The china stock…

UN/Security Council have no role in conflict prevention?

Posted on March 25, 2010 at 3:42am 0 Comments

The high-conflcit zones are Iraq , Israel and Afganistan. The potential war zone are well-known, such as Indian sub-continent , Korea , iran. There is less work on conflict prevention in these zones. It is not known whether UN / Security has a role in conflict-prevetion !

All nations came together after 9/11 attacks but that motivation slowly fizzled out. It appears as if there is absence of global strategy for peace.

Now Afghan president visits China. It is not…

Left-Extrimism In India

Posted on March 23, 2010 at 1:00pm 0 Comments

The break-down of erstwhile Soviet Union probably ended the cold-war era and brough peace to the world. The hosting of Olymics by China probably brought recognition to China as a country with mixed-economy standing on communism platform . Is the threat to capitalism gone ?

Let us consider India. Indian independence brought mixed economic model, standing on a democratic platform in 1947. Today in 2010 , there is a growth of left-extrimism in India. The situation has…

North Korea issue

Posted on June 14, 2009 at 12:39pm 0 Comments

The North Korea is again threatening the world with missiles! The USA seems to have no policy for Korea region to tackle the issue. Like west-asia , there needs to be policy for Pakistan-India-China-Afganistan-region as well as for korea region.

If after the US President revolutionary speech in Egypt , there is a Korean call for arm-race , it only shows how countries are obssessed with local issues.

Prez Obama also have to look into CTBT , NPT and generate discussion… Continue

Hi Lalit,
You recently posted a question about working with displacement and land disputes. I would suggest looking at the Search for Common Ground website (www.sfcg.org/programmes). Search has worked on land disputes in Burundi, Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, and Rwanda. You can look at program descriptions and evaluations by country. If you find anything useful, you could contact the country offices. If you have difficulty located contact information, please let me know. Warm regards, Carolyne

Dear Lalit, thank you for invitation to be friends. It is so calm and peaceful in the woods around us. I hope my inner self can be as balanced as I work on some things that are important to me this week.

We have a journalist arriving on the 19th, and a group of us have organized his book tour, fun, but also tension producing.

in peace, Dori
