The total damage estimated runs in crores!
The damage figures include-:
1300 houses damaged
50 injured
1 death
Cash crops(paddy, vegetables)-50% damaged
Fruit crops-40%-90%

Now Handwara and the people of Handwara call for help, they need us.They need out support. We have to pitch with whatever help we can to minimize the suffering and woes of the people.
We at "Koshish"-A Voluntary Organisation are trying our bit to help the people who have lost everything, from their cattle to their houses, to their livelihood, to their orchards andd much much more!!!!

Dear Zsuzsanna,
I am very interested in the training that your institute is running. I am starting my PhD entitled "Indigenous Peacebuilding Through Art" working with Australian Aboriginal people. Our situation here is probably defined as post-conflict, although there is still significant violence and tension, and the effects of colonialism continue and have never truly been addressed by the colonisers (these effects were for the first time ever officially, and only partly, acknowledged last year by our new prime minister Rudd). I have never done any peace studies, nor has my supervisor, but I am very interested to learn about it and hopefully one day practice in this field. Do you think I am too much of a beginner for your institute's courses? Also, do you have a rough guide for how much we would need to pay for them?
Thank you so much for your time,
Andria Durney
