Profile Information

What motivated you (or your organization) to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
Coming from Africa, I have watched in horror, the devastating effects of civil wars and conflicts and the implications on national and regional peace and security and development. I developed an interest in the area, pondering over what justifies or motivates people to resort to war, and what the solutions bring or build the peace.
This motivated me to pursue a Masters degree in International Relations specializing in peace and conflict resolution. In the course of my study, I have critically analyzed conflicts, their surrounding dynamic and their impacts on. I am compelled to make any contribution to resolving conflicts and building peace. This, I believe is a fundamental bottom-up approach towards a just and equitable world.

Thanks for reply. I am not that pessimistic I always believe Kenyans are resilient in spite of the short sighted political leadership that we tend to have. However I do agree there are formidable obstacles on the way and our leaders don't seem to be well focused. Take the case of a new constitution that we have been making for the last 19 yrs, an independent ECommission, trustworthy judiciary, working devolution and relegating of ethnicity to the background. I guess that is why we chose to be peace makers - because the job is there. Ama?

Hello Winnie,
I am supporting my mother, who has a representation contract in LA, in the production of a documentary series about civil society on a global scale, in time for a major event in China next year.
We hope to include a contingent from Africa for our filming in Europe.
Best wishes,
Adam

Good hearing from you. i can guess your experience there. well this place is exciting too, but am mainly involved in professional development and training and the centre is undergoing real restructuring so that it reaches its inended capacity as an international peace suppoprt training centre.
I will be here for the next three months with a possibility of an extension if i wish, but i consider it a worth experience . Aah, for my future plans i will be at home serving in post conflict reconstruction with an international agency or UN including where i am as one of the UN supported centre .

Kind regards and stay well.

Hi, Nyambura, you are too silent. Are you through with the internship? I secured an internship at the D.O.D -international Peace support training centre-a training centre for peace keepers before they are deployed to missions.

Would be glad to hear how is the experience with the UN system.

REGARDS
WILLIAM
