Profile Information

Suvojit Bagchi is an Indian journalist who presently is working as the Senior Assistant Editor of an English language daily of India, The Hindu. He is based in central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, covering Maoist conflict amongst other things.

Earlier (2003-2012, Sept) Suvojit was associated with the BBC in India. He worked with the BBC for close to a decade and mainly covered Maoist conflict and Kashmir. He has travelled across south Asia and parts of middle east to cover events for BBC's radio & online network. He rarely reported for the TV. He covered all major events in India between 2003-2012 for BBC's language radio and also reported from US, Iran & Russia.

Before 2003 he was based in eastern Indian city of Calcutta and worked for an Indian newspaper, ABP. He started working as a freelance journalist in 1993.
