International Caritas Peace Camp 2010 in Egypt

From July 14 to August 4 the 10th International Caritas Peace Camp for needy children from all over the Middle East took place in Alexandria/Egypt. This project was organised from Caritas Austria in close collaboration with Caritas Egypt. Participants were 98 children (orphans, street children, refugees) aged 10 - 14 from 8 different countries of the region (Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, Sudan and Yemen).

Gathering needy children in the Middle East

Since 1999 Caritas Salzburg/Austria is organising an International Peace Camp in the Middle East (almost) every year. This camp takes place in another country every year and gathers around hundred needy children (orphans, street children, refugees, children living in slum areas, children of leprosry patients) aged 10 to 15 from several countries of the region (2009: Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, Sudan and Yemen) and belonging to many different religious denominations.
