Profile Information

What motivated you (or your organization) to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
I come from Africa where conflicts and wars have ravaged communities. Many lives have been lost and many people displaced from their homes. Political differences continue to pit brother against brother, tribe against tribe, nation against nation. For over 5 years, I have worked in conflict locations, 3 years of which, I worked in the War ravaged Darfur Region of Sudan. Currently, I am working in Sri Lanka where the government has been fighting rebels for the last 25 years. What I have experienced all along has created a strong desire in my heart to at least make some positive contribution for a lasting peace, no matter how small the contribution is, not only in Africa, but the World in General.
Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself or the work of your organization (no more than 3 paragraphs)
I am a Kenyan by Nationality with a Bachelors Degree in Education (Economics & Business Studies) and MBA(Human Resources Management). From April 2004 though to August 2005, I worked with World Vision Southern Sudan as Human Resources Officer. From September 2005 through to August 2008, I worked with World Vision International, based in Darfur, Sudan as Human Resources & Administration Officer. Effective September 2008 to date, I am working with the United Nations Office for Projects Services, as Human Resources Officer based in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
For the last 5 years, having been exposed to conflicts and wars in my place of work, I have developed a strong desire to study peace and conflict resolution to be able to contribute positively in realizing lasting peace across the world.
It is for this reason that I am currently looking for an institution of higher learning that offerd PhD in Peace Studies.
