What motivated you (or your organization) to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
Having witnessed poverty and injustice in many parts of the world and having lived in the midst of a violent conflict, I made the decision to work in the realm of civic empowerment and nonviolent action. My professional orientation at the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict (ICNC) is devoted to education about the history, strategies and methods of civic engagement and nonviolent action to achieve social change, rights, justice, equality, and accountability of institutions and governments – which constitute some of the core elements for just and lasting peace.

Hii Shaazka,

Your work is just great to say the least. We have been working on some cases from Western Kenya. Can you please permit me to share one of those cases with you pertaining an advocate who is paid by a poor, sickling, illiterate widow client for services that are not delivered. Instead the advocate colludes with the plaintif. The plaintif despite using policemen to cofine the defendant for almost seven days in police cell and prison and charging her in a court of law, before the case is determined the plaintiff uses her financial power and files another case in another court of law in the republic of Kenya. The advocate for the widow does not represent her client despite exhausting her meagre resources to pay the advocate. I have tried severally to communicate to you using the e-mail that you provided (sbeyerle@nonviolent-conflict.org) but I am not successful.

Best regards,

Eric.
