Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself or the work of your organization (no more than 3 paragraphs)
I grew up in Northern Ireland during the Troubles, an experience which has inspired me to use my skills and abilities to work for greater peace and understanding in the world. I have a strong interest in other cultures and this has led me to live and travel in many different parts of the world, in including Spain, Taiwan and Latin America. Currently I am living in the United States , where I am a Rotary Peace Fellow, studying in the School of Education at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
I have eight years’ experience in the field of education – both formal and community-based education. For the five years previous to taking up the Rotary Peace Fellowship, I worked in Northern Ireland on a variety of peace-related projects, including teacher-training, youth art projects and the production of peace education resources.
In the future I would like to play a positive role in reforming education so that it focuses more on developing students into peaceful, pro-active citizens.
