Profile Information

What motivated you (or your organization) to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
Nepal is a landlocked country lies sandwiched between China and India. With its 1 47,141 square meter area, there three different types of region, Himalayas (Snow Mountain), Mountain and Madhes or Terai (low lands). There are hundred acres of land in Mountains and Himalayas, which are neither cultivated nor used for any earning purpose. Because of limited access in modern technology, Nepal is unable to use its unlimited resources for the development. There are hundred’s of animals, plant species, which only found in Nepal and should be still hundred’s of species not discovered yet. The mountainous region and Himalayas occupies the bigger part of land but because of inadequate resources majority of population are centralized in capital and low land. There are hundred’s of tribes staying with their own community since long time with their own language in Nepal.
Now the perception of Nepal should be changed. Nepalese are prepared to form new Nepal with new views and ideas. Nepalese should believe that it is not landlocked hence; it is land-linked country. It is our fortune so we are far from ocean. We have country like china and India in our two sides
Now the new political force emerged in Nepali politics. It was born taking a weapon in hand, calling so-called civil war. After more than thirteen-year’s Main political parties were able to bring them in main political framework and ultimately Maoist became the main political force in Nepal. It is surprising, exciting and unbelievable for political science students as well. We can say that Maoist got recognition from Nepalese. They came in politics with bullet and won by ballet. The quotation of Benjamin Franklin “there never be a good war and bad peace” was wrong for Maoist in arithmetic way. However, it does not mean they will be the same forever in Nepali politics and the fear of Maoist is still in Nepalese mindset. It is sure and certain; there will be a big debacle in Nepali politics once again.
Now Nepal is in peace process, but there are still some militant groups left in one corner.
Now it is really an interesting stage for the student of political science. Some are saying Nepali is in post-conflict stage and some believes there is still conflict inside the country. There is still everyday news of strikes, kidnapping, murder, explosion, with same political slogan. There is still a lack of trust within political parties. Every political leader’s are controlled by foreign power sectors.
I this is only an example but the whole world is suffering from same circumstances. I think we need to be unite to struggle with poverty, human rights and peace buidling process.
I have seen almost 13 years conflict from very near. So, i always ready for any kind of peace building programs.
