Profile Information

What motivated you (or your organization) to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
I would like to learn how to deal with conflict...on any level. I think we are sorely lacking those skills in our society, and as a result, to go along to get along, we let the bullies of the school playground take over our world. This is simply not acceptable. But we can't resort to their tactics in order to get our world back to sanity.
Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself or the work of your organization (no more than 3 paragraphs)
I am a special ed teacher professionally.

Now I volunteer my time as a part time Associate Producer for a liberal talk radio show, "The Jeff Farias Show", because I woke up politically during Katrina. I help find inspirational people who do wonderful things for our world to come on the show, compile information on guests, and help try to spread good, accurate information to the world, which is my passion now.

Trying to figure out how our society went wrong, and finding the tools that will help fix it is my main concern. Education is the key. but our nation has been brainwashed by the entertainment industry, and entertainment as news (which is neither reliable nor accurate). How to break through a cult like aversion to real issues facing us, instead of jingoism and hate speech, seems almost insurmountable.

However, I believe down to the marrow of my bones, that the human species is designed for sanity and health. We have steered off course, but I truly believe we will want to steer back to compassion, love, and reason.
