Please take a look at this report and blog
The State of Israel is in Bed with the Military Industrial Complex
If you want to know why we are not heading down the road to peace. Just read this Congressional Research Service report U.S. Foreign Aid to Israel of September 16, 2010
http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/mideast/RL33222.pdf
The United States government has pledged over three billion dollars a year in military aid to the State of Israel until the year 2018. This is on top of, well over a hundred billion dollars of United States aid to the State of Israel over the years. With two-thirds of it being military aid. It works out to over five-hundred dollars per every Israeli annually... Global Crier

Thank you for your interest in my work. My dissertation is currently not available online, but it can be ordered from Dissertation Express.
Currently I am not personally working on Latin American ZoPs, but several colleagues of mine are. There are two chapters on Colombian ZoPs set to come out in a New Book on the subject this spring. The Salvadoran zone I discussed in the Zones of Peace book is still in existence, its US-based NGO has changed its name to eco-viva and is doing quite a bit of environmental work now that the peace situation has stabilized.
Finally, back to your original question. You might want to look at the work of Rabbi Mark Gopin, who heads a center looking at religion and conflict resolution. Others who know a great deal more about the role of religion in conflict resolution than I do include Mohammed Abu-Nimer and Scott Appleby. I'm sure that if you poke around a bit, you'll find a wealth of information on the subject.
Again, thanks for your interest and good luck with your research.
