Profile Information

What motivated you (or your organization) to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
Due to the suffering of my people and having grown up in the same environment I was forced to assist my people especially orphans and destitute children who were forced to look after animals instead of going to school and women were lured in prostitution to make ends meet. As per our tradition we look women as children who have no say in the family and young children are forced to early marriages to old men who are over 60 years. This made me to be involved fully in peace and conflict resolution. Currently I am having 162 orphans and 32 widows whereby 8 of these children are in Form 2, 5 in Form 1 and 3 are in Class 8 sitting for their National Examination which is due this month-November and I have no other assistance (basic needs) in kind of Food, shelter, clothing and school fees).
Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself or the work of your organization (no more than 3 paragraphs)
I am Pastor Charles Kwalia, Founder of Faith Harvest Restoration Ministry International currently based in Matumbei at Mt. Elgon in Kwanza District.
I was born in 5th April 1970 from a very poor family where I was not able to complete my ‘A’ Level due to lack of school fees.

I joined Kenya Army in the 1984 - 1992 where I was called by the Lord to open a Ministry so that I can unite my people because they are believed cattle rustlers. Apart from uniting my people I was also called by the Lord to open an orphanage home where to take care of affected and infected people from HIV/AIDS.
