Profile Information

What motivated you (or your organization) to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
I became interested in this field after joining a peace education program in my country. I came to realize how our world is captured in daily violence and wasted opportunities. Livining in a turmoil region , the middle east , made me more interested to take part on changing the previaling realities and raising awareness about values of diveristy and tolerance and equipping people with the skills of dealing with confilct in a nonviolent way.
Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself or the work of your organization (no more than 3 paragraphs)
My name is Nermine Mounir, 26 yrs old, Egyptian. I have a Bachelor degree in Political Science that I obtained from Cairo University, Egypt. My professional focus of interest lies in the field of development and through education that leads to empowerment of individuals.
Following my studies, I started my career working with a promising NGO called Dreamers of Tomorrow in which I was given the responsibility to lead the team of our organization to implement a project titled "Volunteers as Social leaders". Afterwards, I joined United Nations Volunteers as a Registration Assistant in the UNHCR. As a registration team, we were at the forefront of coordinating efforts to help the victims of the Middle East’s most ugly conflict. I conducted interviews with asylum-seekers and prepared written legal assessments.

Currently, I am working with a local NGO called Alwan and Awtar in a project that focuses on developing Children literature as a tool to strengthen the intellectual, spiritual, moral, social and emotional development of children in the MENA region. The project is a partnership with Anna Lindh foundation and involves other local partners. However, Alwan wa Awtar was selected to be the host institution of the project and is therefore responsible for preparing and monitoring the implementation of the work plans of the whole project including those of partners. As part of the management team, I am responsible for preparing and monitoring the implementation of the work plans and related activities of the project of Alwan wa Awtar and partners.

Hi
After we accomplished the pilot project with young adults from 10 countries last February, we're ready to launch the Peace Revolution live project. We now open for people at all ages to taste INNER PEACE and an online SELF-DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM. Moreover, for those ages between 21-30 years old who register before 31 August 2009 will have a special privilege to seek for scholarship to join the international conference in Thailand in February 2010. If you're interested in, please do not hesitate to register and try our 4 stages of fun and dynamic self-development. Or if you could think of some of your friends or network who may interest in this initiative, please kindly send our invitation or website to them. Thank you very much. We're looking forward to hear from you soon. Let's collaborate to heal the world we live...!
