Do you want just books, or bibliography? I think Herbert Kelman's article, “The Interdependence of Israeli and Palestinian National Identities: The Role of the Other in Existential Conflicts” (in Journal of Social Issues 55 (3): Fall 1999, 581-600)…

Profile Information

Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself or the work of your organization (no more than 3 paragraphs)
This fall, I'll be writing my Ph.D. dissertation in residence at the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School, and teaching Conflict Theory at the University of Massachusetts Boston's Graduate Program in Dispute Resolution. My doctorate is in International Relations at American University's School of International Service; my advisor is Dr. Mohammed Abu-Nimer. I gained my field experience over eight years of work (1996-2004), based in Jerusalem, directing Middle East peace-building programs for Israeli and Palestinian youth through the Seeds of Peace organization. In addition to my research, I'm currently an enthusiastic advocate of and Review Board member for the Just Vision organization (www.justvision.org) and the documentary film Encounter Point, both of which present the public with peace-builder's eye-views of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Please list the countries and/or regions in which you (or your organization) have direct and significant expertise
Expertise: Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, USA;
Familiarity with conflict, some dialogue experience: Balkans, Cyprus, India/Pakistan.
What is your current country of residence (or location of your organization)?
USA
What is your current job (and organization) and/or where and what field are you studying?
Visiting Researcher, Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School; Lecturer, Conflict Theory, University of Massachusetts Boston; Ph.D. Candidate, International Relations, American University
What is one of your favorite websites in the field? (please provide one answer per box)
http://www.justvision.org
Which are your primary sectoral areas of expertise (or the primary sectoral areas of your organization) ?
Conflict Resolution, Dialogue, Education, Psychosocial
Which are your primary skills areas(or the primary skill areas of your organization)?
Evaluation, Program Design, Research
What are some of your current areas of research (if any)?
My Ph.D. dissertation is a comprehensive, long-term empirical evaluation of North American Peace Education programs for Israeli and Palestinian youth. I am researching hundreds of adult Israeli and Palestinian graduates of the Seeds of Peace program, where I worked for eight years, to discover if and how they are involved in forms of peace-building, political activism and/or or cross-conflict relationships.
If appropriate feel free to list several of your (or your organization's) publications
Academic Publications

Dear Ned - I am a senior IB student at the Ramallah Friends School. I am working on an Extended Essay on Peace and Conflict Resolution. As a former participant of SoP i wanted to examine the impact of the program and suggest ways of improving it. Through my research, i came across your paper 'The Political Economy of SoP: A Critical Evaluation...'. I was wondering if you don't mind sharing it with me along with any other relevant material that you think may be of interest. My email address is tareqkhalaf92@gmail.com. Many thanks.
