Profile Information

What motivated you (or your organization) to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
My country is a very conflictual one because where there is no money, no food, no standard of living the place becomes very good for conflicts to be raised. Conflict about everything. In that kind of atmosphere people are very upset even a look could bring problems.
this must be said , schools are not reachabale for the majority. Only some few have that possibility to study and have degrees. People don't have the necessary environment to think straight. Kids are their own chiefs. they do not have models to follow. Then violence became the master in Haiti: kidnapping, rape, murders.
When I heard about this field of actions Conflicts solving and peace building I decided, first by curiosity and then
by interest to see what could be done. After two years of study I realize that many things can be done. Bring people together to make a project is not easy. During my studies I learned how to negociate, to arbitrate, to compromize, to put interest first and not position and I have tried with a little group of friends to put into actions what I have learned. The country is mine, I have two daughters the first one , 18th years old, has a dream. the one to change Haiti. I want to leave her a country for which I have worked for the best to happen.
Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself or the work of your organization (no more than 3 paragraphs)
My name is Myriam Desrosiers Senatus. I like people to call me by my first name Myriam. I come from the third city of Haiti. My father was a lawyer, My mother was a Primary school teacher. I went to a religious school from six to 18.. this school was leaded, up to now by siters.
That does not mean that I am religious. I prefer not talking about reglion and God. I think that God leaves too bad things to happen that makes me mad. Studied firs, pharmacy, then economic sciences. I have two bachelors then I got a master in development sciences all in Haiti. I went ot Sweden in 1997 and got a master degree in Port and Maritime Managment from world maritime Uneiversity established in Malmo. I just ended my DESS (which is the french equivalent for a Master
degree) in Conflicts Solving and Peace Building.

I am working for the Maritime Adminstration of Port-au-Prince ,Haiti, (SEMANAH)and for the National Port authority of Haiti. (APN) I am the Director of Cooperation and Maritime affairs and a Consultant in Port Management mainly responsible for training for the Port. I have said that earlier, I have 2 daughters 18 and 14. I live in Port-au-Prince the Capital of Haiti. I am divorced and I am raising my daughters alone. They are very good at school and I am porud of them (like any other mother). I used to like reading, I like going out, dancing (I dance a lot), watching TV, be with friends sharing time. I love people, meeting new and different persons. I think in one word that I kike life itself.
.

It is not really a comment. I am so sorry. Yesterday I made a wrong click and my profile went through without corrections. As you may know I am not a native speaker of english and I need to review what I write. I request your mansuetude for all my language mistakes.

As I said I just ended my program in conflict solving and peace building. I wish now to have a on the field training for not so long because of my responsibility in my country where I live and work. However I can travel any time. My jobs will permit me to have this practical experience. If I could be helped in that matter I will be so grateful.

Thank you in advance

Myriam
