My suggestions for true democracy are that FULL powers of the governance of the country must not be in the control of one single person. There are great chances of it being misused or abused. Everyone knows about the "democracy" in Zimbabwe.

A glimpse of my concept of democracy is given below for the kind perusal and comments of everyone interested.

“Even the demand for devolution needs to be reframed as a demand for democratization that brings government closer to all the people, not just minorities, apart from being made far stronger than the 13th Amendment, which has loopholes allowing the Centre to take back the devolved powers. Along with the demand for abolition of the Executive Presidency, and further devolution to smaller units, it would give all the people of Sri Lanka more control over their lives, instead of having their lives ruled by a remote power in Colombo that knows little and cares less about their needs”.

Your comments on the statement above is kindly solicited.

It has been officially declared that war is over in Sri Lanka and that terrorism has been crushed fully and that it will not raise its head again. good News.

But the way this are happening in Sri lanka does not make people aware that it is true with all the restrictions that is being practiced in the country. Freedom of travel, speech and so on does not seem to be there. Civil society must wake up first to know the extent of losses and find ways and means of getting it back.

I have already made some suggestions in this regard. A small detail is found in the discussions. But none, including Sri Lankans, seem to have commented on it. You can call for a detailed one by givin me your personal email address.

If a genuine attempt is made to seriously discuss those suggestions we might be able to present a good set of suggestions to the "professional politicians" and the public of Sri Lanka for due consideration on the need for corrupt-free good governance in Sri Lanka.

The "professional politicians" are hiding the most important fact that one of the real causes for the problems that are being faced by the people of Sri Lanka is CORRUPTION coupled with injustice and discrimination.

Those suggestions were framed with the idea of minimising and then eradication of these evils so as to REAWAKEN SRI LANKA AS A PARADISE ISLE.

It is hoped that everyone will contribute their mite in this mission.

Ayubowan Mrs. Jayaweera,

Just noticed your post on the Peace and Tourism post and thought to get in touch with you. I'm both Sri Lankan and a Couchsurfer :) You can check my profile or on facebook www.facebook.com/suchith

Couch Surfing is a website that allows people to crash over on couches ( at times literally other time at Guest Bedrooms, etc) while traveling around the world. This is especially used a lot by young people who are doing budget travel and very much interested to experience local life as well as hosts who like to meet new people.

Like most social networking sites Couch Surfing requires for you to register and manage your profile to interact with others. You can do so at www.couchsurfing.org

As you might have found out I'm a youth activist interested in Peacebuilding and other development issues. So I'm pleased to get to know you and hope that we can collaborate in future someway to help Sri Lanka realize its potential

Thank you!

Hello ma, You are an ambassador of peace from my piont of view. Please keep it up. However, I think you should make researches on some countries in Africa too, since Africa shares one or two stories of conflict , disease and poverty with Asia. God help us.
