MIchael Warren currently serves as Fundraising Director, Nonviolent Peaceforce, based in Brussels. Previously, he led the Justice and Security Cluster at UNDP Kosovo, developing initiatives in the areas of armed violence prevention, DDR, security sector reform, and women´s safety; and worked as International Programme Officer for Mines Action Canada, supporting the work of mine ban campaigns in the former Soviet Union and Middle East.
Michael is also an experienced facilitator and trainer, having worked in capacity development, cross-cultural learning, and global education with adult and youth learners. Michael has lived and worked in Kosovo, Tanzania, South Africa, and Indonesia, as well as Canada`s remote north; he is originally from Vancouver, British Columbia.
Michael possesses a B.A. in International Development Studies from Dalhousie University and is completing a M.Ad.Ed. in Community Development from St. Francis Xavier University and the Coady International Institute. His research focuses on training facilitators of multi-stakeholder community security mechanisms in the post-conflict context.
