I work as Deputy Coordinator for Education and Fragility for the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) based at UNHCR in Geneva, Switzerland. I am in charge of coordinating and giving substantive inputs to all the activities of the Working Group on Education and Fragility and provide technical support on issues relating to education and conflict within INEE.
I am A highly motivated development practitioner and educator with knowledge and experience working to promote and enhance quality education in formal and non-formal educational settings.
11 years of international experience working in leadership development, global and intercultural/interfaith education for children, young people and adults.
Experience working in the development of educational materials based on competencies and ethical values that can foster a culture of peace and the ability in children to learn how to live together.
Able to develop trainings and materials on cultural understanding and interfaith learning for children, young people and adults.
Knowledge and experience working with conflict analysis models, conflict transformation and mediation theories, evaluation of peace education programs and studying the connections between education and conflict transformation.
Experience working in multicultural environments and implementing peace education programs in more than 15 countries, including countries affected by violence and armed conflict.
I hold a Master in Peace and Conflict Transformation from the University of Basel, World Peace Academy in Switzerland. Wrote my Master thesis on Peace Education in Colombia: A Contribution to Positive Peace, and does research and international consultancy in the area. I hold a Diploma in Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and a Bachelor degree in International Relations and Finance.
Other working experiences include fund-raising, social research, project development, and partnership building with government, non-government and private sectors. Seven years experience working on children’s rights protection and advocacy.
Interested in working in the development of inclusive and participatory education systems and in the implementation of new models of quality education that contribute to peace building, mainly in countries affected by fragility, armed conflicts and humanitarian crises.
