Great for your comment Lwanda. We have had peaceful dialogues with communities implemented by the Army our partners, besides that, i carried out a research on effect of cultural practices on female victims as my University research in Moroto, Nadunget sub-county and i found out that there is a reduction in some of them like bride price which did encourage many men to go for raids. This was successful due to the existence of many NGOs that have got collective efforts to make the region have security and peaful development. We also respect the cultural institutions most especially that of the elders because they have authority and a final say in the community. When u want behaviour change in a place, respect the culture and use the right route to pass the information or message is the best solution about cultural practices.

Dear Lwanda,
Karamoja region had experienced both forciful and brutal disarmament prior and as for peaceful co-existence with the government arm,the (army) to have a good interpersonal working relationship with the civilian, AFLI emerged with a project that would encourage the wining of peoples' mind by emphasing voluntary disarmament and providing alternative livelihoods to karimojong people. This is meant to help them know that raiding and purchasing of arms that they used for raiding and thugry at road blocks was not a good practice, hence the birth of civil-military cooperation project.
