Profile Information

Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself or the work of your organization (no more than 3 paragraphs)
The following Namibian proverb perhaps best summarizes my personal motto in life: “If you think you're too small to make a difference, try sleeping in a closed room with a mosquito.” It might be a cliché, but I truly believe in the ability of every individual to make a positive and lasting contribution to the realization of a more just, sustainable and peaceful world.

Just a few words about myself. I am a social scientist, educator and sustainability activist with a deep passion and commitment to poverty eradication, nature conservation, youth empowerment and development. Having lived, worked and studied in Canada, France, Finland, Costa Rica and the United Kingdom, I have been actively involved with a range of development-related organizations, including the Commonwealth of Learning, Association of Commonwealth Universities, Earth Charter International, and UNESCO. Most recently, I have enjoyed working as Junior Lecturer in the Master’s Programme in Development and International Cooperation at the University of Jyvaskyla, Finland, and am currently a researcher and doctoral candidate within the Finnish National Graduate School of Environmental Social Sciences as part of a four-year post funded by the Academy of Finland.

Having worked at the Earth Charter International Headquarters in Costa Rica, it is my passion and life journey to help bring together people from different ages, backgrounds, religions and nationalities to affect positive change. More generally, I am passionate about education, civil society empowerment, religion and spirituality, and environmental sustainability. I am also a writer, violin player, sushi lover, amateur photographer, and great admirer of communal life. If you have similar interests, or would simply like to share thoughts and ideas, please get in touch- I would love to hear from you!
Please list the countries and/or regions in which you (or your organization) have direct and significant expertise
