Katie Zanoni (San Diego, CA) – MA in Peace and Justice Studies, University of San Diego (2006). Katie was a Peace Corps volunteer in Thailand where she implemented environmental educational programs through the district office of Pua located in the Northern Province of Nan. Upon her return to the United States, she continued her career within international relief organizations with a focus on education. She worked at the International Rescue Committee in various capacities including as the Program Coordinator managing after school programs for refugee youth and as the Resettlement Program Manager under the West Coast National Regional Director.

Katie is also pursuing her teaching credential at the University of San Diego (USD) to bridge the formal field of education and the theories of Peace Studies to implement Peace Education into the school systems of her community. As a recipient of the Dean’s Merit Award at USD, Katie was formerly on the steering committee to develop a new Global Peace Education Certificate within the School of Leadership and Educational Sciences and the School of Peace Studies. Katie is currently working on Curriculum Advisory Committees at San Diego City College as the curriculum developer for the new Peace Studies, Sustainability, and Conflict Resolution and Mediation programs. In addition, she is an adjunct professor in the Peace Studies and Sustainability programs. Katie continues her research in the field of Peace Education, Peace and Conflict Studies, Women and Peacebuilding and Sustainability.
