Kara Andrade is an Ashoka fellow and formerly a Fulbright fellow based out of Guatemala where she was funded by the U.S. State Department to implement a citizen journalism Web site. She was the Community Organizer for Spot.Us, an open source project that focuses on community-funded reporting. She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a Masters in Journalism and has six years of experience in nonprofit development, public health and community organizing. She has worked as a multimedia producer and photojournalist for Agence France-Presse, France24 the Associated Press, the San Jose Mercury News, Contra Costa Times and the Oakland Tribune.
