Profile Information

What motivated you (or your organization) to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
I am a Kenyan working for non profit NGO as CEO. our field program areas are located in conflict prone environments. These regions range from urban slums to marginal pastoralists areas where tribal raids and counter raids occur at least once a monthly. We realize without initiating peace programmes as intergral part of our core educational programme, we cannot facilitate meanigful development programs. hence my training in peace and conflict studies.

I hold academic certificates in Education, consultancy and
project management. While in school and colleges I was privileged to serve in the student leadership council .
In my professional career I have worked for the Government of Kenya as high school teacher, high school principal and education officer between 1984 and 1992. In February 1993 I resigned from the government and joined the NGO sector as Environmental Education
officer and quickly rose through the ranks becoming the youngest chief executive of an international NGO in Kenya Age (34)s. During this period I had hands on experience in the planning, implementation and
management of projects and programs in Education, Natural Resources, Health and Emergency sectors in Kenya. In 1999, I resigned from the position of CEO and took international position and worked in south
Sudan coordinating implementation of relief and rehabilitation projects in a highly complex emergency and security environment.
