Profile Information

What motivated you (or your organization) to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
A desire to put into practice that idea that war, as a method of working out our differences, is obsolete. And a firm belief that this is a better way.
Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself or the work of your organization (no more than 3 paragraphs)
Jan Passion M.A. Currently residing in California, Jan worked in Sri Lanka for 3 years as the Deputy Director and Team Manager with the Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP). Prior to his work in Sri Lanka, Jan worked with NP conducting field research and outreach in West Africa and Palestine/Israel and also helping develop NP’s infrastructure. He has worked as a peacebuilding trainer with the Conflict Transformation Across Cultures Program, (CONTACT), the Karuna Center for Peacebuilding and with Lesley College in Israel. Jan has been peace activist and war tax resister for over twenty years. For ten years he worked as a psychotherapist working with perpetrators and victims of various forms of violence and trauma. Jan has worked as a bus driver, mediator, self-defense instructor, massage therapist, refugee host, and emergency medical technician. His hobbies include sailing, racket ball, frisbee and yoga. Jan's peacebuilding experience includes work in USA, Macedonia, Sri Lanka, Palestine, Thailand, Israel, Sierra Leone, India, Ecuador, the former USSR, Guinea, Ghana, South Africa and Cyprus. He earned his BA at the University of Massachusetts with a self-designed degree on gender and power and he earned a MA in International and Intercultural Management from the School for International Training and wrote his thesis on building nonviolent intercultural peaceteams.

Violance,war,conflicts,sufferings my desire to see world in peace and non violance has motivated me to join this network."Vasudev kutukbkam" entire world as a family, this was a teaching of our culture and traditional.we created countries,boundries,religions,cast,race for a genuine reason or a false reasons for any reason.but this the time to realise that we are one and we naturaly interconected with each other ,which we can just realise by watching inhale and exhale of breaths the source is same ,without any descrimanation,religion,bonundries, equaly for all living life of universe .When we understand this simple thing then we must understand how our and other's life is equaly important,valuble ,respectable .we should follow the nature's rule ,non violance .peace ,god has given us a human life not for destruction but for lookafter the wellbeing of all living life.
