Profile of Dr.Jagannath Pati, MSW, LLB, Ph D, Sr Fulbright

Dr.Jagannath Pati is an India-based rehabilitation specialist with over 24 years' experience working across national and international platforms. Dr. Pati has substantive experience working in multicultural environments with diverse population groups, with experience spanning on-ground field work and communications research and policy issues related to children in need of care and protection.

Dr.Pati has extensive experience with central government and autonomous bodies and has demonstrated competence in initiating and maintaining close, cross-cultural partnerships at the national, state and regional level of stakeholders including children homes, non-government organisations and civil societies. He has been actively involved in capacity building and promoting national resource mobilization in India particularly for service providers of children in need of care and protection.

Dr.Pati is a Senior Fulbright awardee and has published two books and volume of literature on development issues. He has contributed several papers in national and international conferences.

Since 1985, Dr.Pati has displayed the ability in contributing meaningfully to the people and the projects he has undertaken. He is inspired by the thought of being and doing something useful for others and society at large. Many of his engagements, including the current one, bear testimony to this passion and have helped him deepen his sensibility and sharpen his skills as a public administrator.
Expertise
His expertise is focused in the area of non-institutional care, where he has taken up several issues such as guidelines, legal and policy matters related to adoption, foster care, sponsorship and aftercare etc. He has initiated IT application in his organisation with the help of NIC. He shares high-level contacts with Government bodies, media, non-governmental and other civil society organizations and educational institutions. He manages all programme activities effectively and in a timely fashion including the organisation’s website, preparation of the annual work plan and budget, and reporting on budget/programme performance. He guides, develops and trains staff under his/her supervision and is responsible for evaluation of associated agencies including inspection, training and development activities, MIS and multi-media activities etc. He possesses knowledge in the field of communications and public information and has got ability to address a range of issues related to children and community including taking the lead on major public information campaigns; ability to conceptualize, design and implement communications campaigns and ability in pro-active media relations.
He has adequate knowledge in dealings with Children Issues (Non-Institutional Care) and policy matters related to rehabilitation of orphan, abandoned and surrendered children; Annual Action Plan; Management Committee Meetings and Implementation of Minutes; Legal matters in Supreme Court/High Courts, Complaints and Parliament Questions; Promotion of Domestic Adoption through Multimedia Campaign; Website, MIS, ICT and Centralized Database; Documentation, Report Writing, Press-briefings and Media-relations; Training and Development Initiatives, Meets and Conferences, State Orientation Programmes; Guidelines on Adoption & Annual Reports; Inspection of Govt. and NGO run Homes including Placement Agencies and Adoption Coordinating Agencies; Issues related to Special-Needs Children; Public Information as PIO and Issues related to Vigilance Matters; Addressing Queries from Individuals/Partner Agencies such as Prospective Adoptive Parents, Indian Placement Agencies, Adoption Coordinating Agencies and Foreign Enlisted Agencies, Embassies, Central Authorities and State Governments; editing news letter.
