Profile Information

What motivated you (or your organization) to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
The idea of empowering the indigenous community. I stay in the slums with many indigenous and poor people, I work with women and girls and is always so saddened by how much we are affected when conflict arises in our community. I have always longed for a chance to empower our people to be able to manage their own issues.

I am a thirty nine year old Kenyan women who was born in a province known as Nyanza away from the city where I live. Due to various challenges and misfortunes in life, I found myself in Kibera slums where I live with my husband and children.

I have gone through so many challenges in life and suffered seriously during the passed post election violence, when I had to go without food for several days with my children. When I saw women including young girls killed in cold blood..

I lead a group of more than 700 women living in the slums who are struggling to build up their lives after the post election violence.
