Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself or the work of your organization (no more than 3 paragraphs)
Gwendolyn S. Myers was born September 12, 1990 and a 2012 graduate of Mother Patern College of Health Sciences, Stella Maris Polytechnic, major in Biology and minor in Chemistry. She has been engaged in peacebuilding work since 2008 with youths in various communities. As a result of her continual quest for peace, she has founded the Messengers of Peace-Liberia (MOP-Liberia) of which she is the Executive Director. The core value of her organization is to encourage and motivate young Liberians to volunteer for peace and development in Liberia. The group was established to undertake peace building initiatives and public education programs in communities across the country. The organization actively participated in the peaceful conduct of the recently held elections in Liberia designing messages of peace and disseminating these through radio jingles, spot messages and street dramas. She, along with members of her organization, are currently working on the establishment of peace clubs in secondary schools and communities in Liberia, as a way of encouraging more young people to volunteer for peace and development.
Gwendolyn is also the youth program coordinator of the YON-GBON Youth Leadership Program, Kofi Annan Institute of conflict Transformation, Liberia, providing leadership skills to young people in Liberia. Gwendolyn is also looking forward to the establishment of a vibrant network of young peace ambassadors around the world, especially young women in championing the cause for promoting peace and development through volunteerism.
She is presently a part of the first women’s leadership cohort program at the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding, Eastern Mennonite University, VA, USA!
