I also train youths in my community (Ogoni) in the Niger Delta of Nigeria mediation processes and how to become peer mediators. Since conflict is a major occurrence in this part of the world especially between the indigenous communities and oil prospecting companies. The workshops that I organized for youths in my area have given new directions to our youths on how to respond to conflict situations Prior to my joining the university in Nigeria, I had conducted extensive training in conflict management in several colleges and high schools in the U.S. when I served with the St. Louis Partners, AmeriCorps conflict management program.
