This is interesting to know the increase in funding of women-led projects, but women are still lacking behind. it is as if it is only afew women' projects that are supported. Toyin

Anty Toyin, I was impressed with your peace building efforts. I am especially glad because you are a graduate teacher like myself. I just returned from Port Harcourt, where I facilitated at a Peace Camp organised for youth of the Niger Delta.

Since you were part of USAID/OTI training, I believe you must have met Dr. Albert, now Prof., he was my lecturer in M.A. Peace and Conflict Class at Univerisity of Ibadan.

In any case, I would like to know if there is chance for intership in your organisation. If there is, I would like to make myself available.
Thanks and God bless!

nb in Nigeria this is the 11th week of ASUU -FG negotiatiation stalemate-shuldn't the implications of 10-week no class,no measurement in tertiary institutions be a collective concern provoking a elegaic civic pressure by both the parents and the royalty...BUT AS USUAL TILL irrepairable damage is done to the already rote system wherein no clear cut credit system will be given to independent study /project etc...IS ASUU striking JUST for emoluments upgrade? NO. BUT significant groups felt innocent or unruffled about the globally shameful trauma it's done to theuniversity calenda...Counselling skills could be applied to any group inso far as doctors themselves have to be examined when/if they re sick by their peers -to avoid biased diagnosis..IS UNIVERSITY AUTONOMY OUTMODED?
This is a mere reecho of my last month post?

Truly there are optimists everywhere on the bright future of our dear country but shouldn't our generation witness or help to expedite a social order supportive of a fulfillingly productive populace ? ARE we not replicating a rote -education statusquo -turning out unemplyables simply because academics and political will to facilitate decolonised intelligentia to perform are inexorable -due to docility blammable on the elite class? I stand to be corrected if the trends in Nigeria 's buying & selling economy will enable us to become a superpower in 2020 -without a creatively, endogenously designed education policy.I' doubt think i'm not a pessimist about this. I have seen it in the history of developed nations -ChINA,jAPAN,THE TIGER COUNTRIES are current examples. There's nothing bad in consumerism but we must brace up to produce beyond the perishables we 're 'producing'
When will be morning yet in our own technological history? We are stiill in the buying stage!
ALRIGHT WHEN ARE GOING TO START TRIAL & ERROR FOR appropriate tech? i m buoyed if anyone talk of development politics via POLITICAL WILL & READY CITIZENRY to implement the policy.AMEN FOR ANSWERED PRAYERS wHAT ELSE ? God has blessed Nigeria copiously....Gbemi

i hope membes & their invitees will also & continue to draw wisdom & interventional strategies not only from their learned theories but also from their social & indigenous experience .For example the WEST INVENTIONS almost all the formulae orpatent are known for replication for global service +vely or otherwise depending on the mindset of the user/consumer .WHY SHOULDN'T the new worlds too contribute something saleable usable or benevolent to the global comunity?

p.s.apologia for errata in the previous longer comment;
i mean HANDSHAKES

I m also attracted to A HUG PROPOSITION by ROB SCHRAMA's .I found it creative and an alternative ,albeit long term psychologically cost -effective and possibly a wayshower to go beyond galleries and clubs -where Rob ASSUMED PEOPLE ARE LIKE MINDS.Oh Yes.You might be correct but most pentecostal parishes, churches in Nigeria especially in the cities practice a shake round to at least 7 faithfuls prior to or after a PRAISE//WORSHIP session .In fact some repeated this 2 or 3 times before a long prayer session ends.
nb.I just want CRAIG & other peace - development workers/leaders of thought to acknoledge vaid, testable alternatives at the micro level before blowing or applying this methods including tHE tHAI POET/MEDITATOR 's inner peace exercise. If we allow these yet unpopular styles to thrive we'd find out soon that we'd have something else as affordable accessible inner weapon for combating interpersonal and international hated or retailiation per se.
Though i was once a meditator -who isn't a meditator -as an athest or agnostist or a muslim or a christian now or in the time past.Who doesn't commune with God OR PROVIDENCE or whatever s/he believe or doesn't believe in?I will like to know.Again a large excess of faithfuls dont mirror the fundamental morals/obligations and earthly expectations of TRUE LOVE which the sutras, the gospel and hadiths preach or would expected to be part of every believers' heart or mind or brain cells. We need to search our hearts/minds and see how conflict wars initially germinate because an individual or group of legislators does/do n't really internalise the basic the basic tenets of these influential --vely or +ly into other peoples let alone our families or compatriots.Only individuals can change the world (W.H.O. ESPERTS) Since wars begin in the minds of men the defences for peace must be constructed in the minds of men,UNESCO ,1946 PREAMBLE
I wish NGOS,websites owners ,humanitarian practitioners would take cognizance of this in their design of TRAINING/SUPPORT/PROGRAMMES & HOLISTIC REPRESENTATION of resource persons in workshops, seminars, webnairs conferences etc because progress measurable by impact has been so pedestrian -by virtue of these formal programmes inviting only academics or just participants with chain sof degrees which have been viably productive at the local level howmuch more in a conflict mileu!
Does this mean academics have no role to play in this social flux? No.Their role is almost ubiquitous insofar as theyare ready to lean from town and folks too and also be in a humble disposition on their research fields or be ready to share from a completely different experience not readable or browseable from internt.More so academics just as lawyers should be able to theorise or hypothise or invent cogent reasons or feret out facts /figures why x or y should be adopted or correct or permit to be tested .So the sky is the limit for all academics of any stripe or calling. In fact fromexperience atthe secondary level as a priviledged teacher of junior & upper secondary students -no teacher at any level who have been diligent or creatively or delightly so ought to be penurious -i.e shouldn't be poor by virtue of this noble vocation.Howvever the casics emoluments housing family support expenses which naturally can diversify the teachers energy/time elswhere ought to be promprtly rendered or paid in to their covers. If they really want teachers to perform maximally or inventively
i would like this network to permt more discussions of informal or new strategies for micro 7 macro PEACCE DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES.
I LOOK FORWARD TO ROB SCHRAMA proposal to be expanded beyond the clubs & galleries .Hugging has a mystery power to heal wounds but...not instantly in all cases B ut its a good step at the secular level.Yes its a positive step.SO SHALL IT BE ...rtn Gbemi

tHANKS FOR MRS falade'S SOCIAL/COUNSELLING SKILLS.I WILL LIKE TO BE WATCHING WHAT SHE CAN DO PRACTICALLY MORE TO THE PEACE INTERVENTIONS SPECIFICALLY AS THE SITUATION IS IN Nigeria & Africa now1 Can she apply or design counselling skills to the professionals advising developing nation governments? and politicians themselves?
Then we'd see if they 'd need psychological tests which PROFESSOR T.A.LAMBO suggested >23 years ago for Nigerian politicians mesmering public treasury via their tenure.RTN GBEMI
