Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself or the work of your organization (no more than 3 paragraphs)
I am a new professional in the counseling field. Much of my counseling experience includes academic, career, and mental health counseling with college students. From both my academic and field experiences, I have developed greater patience, determination, and compassion to help others as they journey toward their individual definitions of healing.
I do not believe there has to necessarily be a “problem” in order for one to seek counseling. I understand that life happens and sometimes addressing concerns as they arise can prevent issues of greater complexity in the future. I believe that people are in a state of continual change and transformation. This change may be influenced by internal, relational, social, political or cultural forces. One does not always have control over external factors, but he or she can control her attitude toward them. I understand that and change can present anxiety, but it may also present opportunities.
I am also a writer and an artist (non-professional). I believe these forms of expression can play a tremendous role in the healing and peacebuilding/making process. It is my hope to use these methods in counseling, as well as reach a broader audience to bring those of cultural difference together.
