Profile Information

What motivated you (or your organization) to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
Relationships with those in transitional nations, caring about them, experiencing the difficulties of their day-to-day lives, sharing in their hope for a better future. Years spent in conflict zones led to a desire to aid in the healing of these peoples and places.

Currently an Independent International Advisor, Global – Border Stabilization, Conflict Mitigation, Reconstruction and Development, DDR for Nations in Transition in the former Soviet Union, N. Africa, the Middle East, India and Central Asia.
Dr. Dianna Wuagneux holds an earned doctorate in international business with a MBA in cultural studies. She has been a college professor (cultural anthropology, international relations, conflict resolution), and has more than 18 years experience as an international adviser for international humanitarian organizations, the US military, government agencies, and corporations, around the world.

During 2008/2009, provided expertise as executive advisor relevant to nation-building, cross-border negotiations, governance, conflict mitigation, civil-society, capacity building, reconstruction and development for the nation of Iraq & throughout Central Asia. The main thrust of the assignment was promoting peace by means of doing good works in partnership. Throughout 2006 and early 2007, Dr. Wuagneux served as the Senior Policy Advisor for reconstruction and development in Afghanistan for both the Department of State and Department of Defense. In addition to coordinating the international cooperation necessary to further the Afghan mission, she was responsible for decisions translating to over $97 million per quarter. Prior to accepting that post, Dr. Wuagneux worked alongside the US Embassy in the post-war Balkans devising and implementing strategies to improve regional relations and mitigate conflict while rebuilding the devastated region.

Prior to the above, Dr. Wuagneux consulted and advised (poverty alleviation, economic development, small infrastructure, civil society, governance, peace-building, social development, etc.) for projects in Russia, Middle East, China, the Pacific, India, Eastern Europe, and the Caribbean. She is included in the Harvard University registry of Eurasian experts, has a seat on the United Nations "Permanent Forum for Indigenous Issues;” has been awarded the NATO Medal for her service to the International Security Assistance Force, and has been called upon to provide written opinions to Congress and the DOD regarding the surge in Iraq, as well as interagency (civilian/military) relations in North Africa and the Middle East. She is published in journals such as Leverage, the Systems’ Thinker, and Cultural Survival Quarterly. She is regularly interviewed as an expert in behavioral economics, and is frequently asked to address field practitioners, academics, and assorted policymakers at international conferences and symposia.
