Profile Information

Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself or the work of your organization (no more than 3 paragraphs): Domitien Nibizi is a Local Outreach Minister at S11th & Willis Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas where he assists refugees with their needs, such as interpretation/translation, filling-out employment applications, integration within the American culture, and other things. Over more than 20 years of military experience, Domitien Nibizi was an officer of the rank of Colonel in the Burundi National Army. He has occupied successively different positions of commandment in Chief, such as commander of the 32nd battalion of commandos (1996-1999), 4th battalion of commandos (2000-2001), a regiment of artillery (2002) and the Aide-de-Camp of the Chief of Staff of Burundi National Army (2003-2004).
Domitien Nibizi graduated from Abilene Christian University where he received a Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation (May 2011) and a Master of Science in Organizational and Human Resource Development (May 2007). He also has a Bachelor in Mathematical Sciences from Burundi (1986). He has some certificates in “Preventing Electoral Violence in Africa and Conflict Analysis in Africa’s Great Region.”
Currently, Domitien is writing a book that is a comprehensive history of Burundi since the prelude to the independence until its 50th anniversary in 2012 with emphasis on the analysis of Conflicts that have occurred in Burundi during that period of time. Additionally, the book will highlight some concerns that Burundians have on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission as a mechanism of transitional justice to be applied to Burundi.

Conducted research and interviews pertaining to Burundi political and social history and future. Interviewees included former Presidents and Ministers, the current Chief of Staff of the National Army, University Professors, among other high authorities. Further questions pertained to border control within the Great Lakes Region in particular and the East African Community in general
